It IS a drag to have to figure out a workaround with each update to iTunes. Whatever happened to "It just Works! The mystery download, re-appearing of deleted podcasts still persists. I think I have deleted one, and it reappears on iPod, even though it does not show in the List view.

Ipod 4 can't download on it's own, When attempting to download several podcasts, a crash is not uncommon, nor is it assured that a podcast will appear in the List though it was shown to be downloading.

I'd also agree that the best way to manage them is through list, which is pretty boring looking but effective. Follow or unfollow podcast shows To learn when new episodes are released, find and follow the shows that you love.
